Fabien Vuattoux’s Captain Hum

Captain Hum is an Amsterdam-based trio founded by French guitarist Fabien Vuattoux. After a fruitful collaboration with Galician drummer Eloi Pascual, the idea for a band merging their shared love of melody, groove, and ensemble playing emerged. With the addition of Catalan bassist Aniol Torrents, with whom they had both played in various contexts, the trio took its final form. The trio is currently performing in Splendor.

Remarkable guitar power trio with a clever and unique repertoire

The three musicians combine rock and jazz into a distinctive sound, with a collective approach in which the form of the compositions serves as a guide for improvisation. Their broad interpretation of the power trio format is one of Captain Hum's core tenets. In the fall of 2025, they recorded their debut album at Wedgeviews Studios (NL) and are currently working on a new release for 2026.

Captain Hum promises a dive into rich melodies and urban-inspired grooves, with influences from blues and soul. Within an open improvisational framework, the trio explores new sonic territories and invites the listener to reflect on American and European music, seen through the lens of the Amsterdam scene.
