Hungarian menu
Melancholy, unbridled passion, and a special attention to rhythm characterize Hungarian music. The composers on this program share these qualities, however different their styles may be. From Dohnanyi's romantic Serenade for String Trio to the desolate sounds of Liszt's Tristia , from the folk melodies in Bartók's early Piano Quintet to the finely polished musical diamonds of Kurtág: in every note, you hear the vast Puszta and the Hungarian soul.
Close-up
In the Close-up chamber music series, musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform self-composed programs in the Small Hall. Each one is a unique, one-off concert that cannot be heard anywhere else. The perfect way to experience the individual qualities of the orchestra musicians! The intimate concerts are organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
