The Busch Trio has a history with the music of Dvořák. The three musicians set themselves the challenge of recording the Czech composer's complete works for chamber music with piano. Four fantastic CDs – two albums of piano trios, one of piano quartets, and one of quintets – are the result. Live is always better, and the Kleine Zaal is the perfect venue for this delightful music. The collaboration with violinist Maria Milstein and violist Miguel da Silva results in a musical connection and a warm ensemble sound.

Dvořák, Dvořák and Dvořák

Fascinating, a composer's first attempt alongside a mature work. Dvořák was a late bloomer: at thirty-one, he wrote a piano quintet that laboriously followed in the German Romantic footsteps of Liszt and Wagner. Fifteen years later, the by then world-famous Czech attempted to revise his experiment, but that was a futile endeavor. No problem: Dvořák conjured up a new piece for the same instrumentation, Opus 81, in which he managed to perfectly capture the spirit of Czech music. Brahms loved this quintet, which is written for the piano less spectacularly, but precisely for that reason reaches the highest level of chamber music.
