Creative musicmaking
On Wednesday afternoon, the Splendor building transforms into a musical playground for young children. Splendor musician Iris Oltheten gives music lessons to children aged 3.5 and up.
The method used is creative music making; children are playfully encouraged to make, compose, and perform music themselves. Many songs are also sung.
Making music is very healthy for young children. Listening, moving, collaborating, inventing, taking initiative, creating a rhythm together, singing... Young children develop motorically, cognitively, and emotionally through music lessons. The children will play instruments themselves and also occasionally listen to the professional ensembles rehearsing at Splendor.
