Guided Tours Pathé Tuschinski

Pathé Tuschinski organises guided tours and audio tours of the theatre that introduce you to the wonders of the building. The skylights where the colours slowly transition, the opulent paintings in the corridors, the wonderful Moorish and Japanese room, and the wall coverings of rare types of wood and marble; you get to see everything.
Large-Scale Restoration
Pathé Tuschinski underwent a large-scale restoration from November 2000 to March 2002. During that process, the building revealed some of its historical secrets; 18 Art Deco women emerged, designed by Pieter den Besten. The restoration also uncovered Willem Kromhout's original peacock ceiling in the Grote Zaal.
On 28 October 1921, The Netherlands' most luxurious film theater opened its doors. Visitors walked in along its characteristic carpets, into a colourfully decorated fairytale. All of Abraham Tuschinski's favourite styles were incorporated into the building, with works from top artists: Willem Kromhout, Jaap Gidding, and Pieter den Besten merged Jugendstil, Amsterdamse School and Art Deco into this dream cinema. Theatre Tuschinski: a space to escape reality.
