De Zandhaas

This octagonal tower mill was built in 1779 and titled ‘De Santhaes’. In both 1964 and 1996 it enjoyed periods of restoration, ensuring that it continues to survive the years.

At the base of this flour mill, visitors can step inside the shop, with its classic interior dating from around 1900 – an interior that actually belonged to a former spice shop near De Zandhaas. However, these days the mill’s shop specialises in all things bread and baking. Tours of the mill are typically given in Dutch. Other languages are possible, but only by appointment. The mill and its associated stores are open from Thursday to Saturday, 10:00 to 17:00.
