Feel the atmosphere of historical times
Behind the historic façade, renovated rooms bring stories from the past to life. This is the site of brewery De Hooiberg, where Gerard Heineken founded his very first Heineken brewery. It was later transformed by the Hulscher brothers into the famous beer house ‘Die Port van Cleve’, a place where people from all walks of life would gather.
The venue also played a role in the emancipation of women, as it was one of the first places in Amsterdam where women were welcome. The tradition of the numbered steaks continues to this day and is now served at Bouillon d’Amsterdam.
Bouillon d’Amsterdam offers an accessible and lively dining experience, inspired by classic Parisian bouillon restaurants, with a distinct Amsterdam twist. Bar De Blauwe Parade impresses with its authentic brown café interior and the monumental Delft Blue tile frieze from 1887, one of the hotel’s most remarkable historic features.
