World Press Photo in Amsterdam

Each year, professional press photographers, photo agencies, newspapers and magazines from all over the world are invited to submit their top news-related pictures from the previous year. The best works are assembled into a travelling exhibition of over 200 images, creating an overview of how press photographers tackle their work around the globe and how the press relates news through images.

The latest in photojournalism

A reflection of trends and developments in photojournalism, it not only presents the (at times gruesome) reality of news and current affairs and events on the world stage, but also the beauty of life, sports, art, science and nature.

Emotional moments captured

It's not uncommon to see guests with a tear in their eye or goosebumps on their skin as they're immersed in the images and the moments, both saddening and wonderful, before them, which may have been fleeting, or stay with the subject for life.

The exhibition at the Nieuwe Kerk on Dam Square is only in town for a few months, so catch it while you can.
