Dope Wat we doen & Lloydscompany

You snort a line or watch your friend go under because of it. You earn quick money with a package or turn a blind eye at the port. Even your blueberries travel via the routes that the underworld also uses. Whether you want to or not: you are involved with drugs. The penetrating theatre and dance performance DOPE shows how drugs, like an invisible line, connect all layers of our society. You can attend this performance at Bijlmer Parktheater.

The thin line between the underworld and the upper world

Through dynamic (hip-hop) dance, monologues, and intimate conversations, a drug runner, a parent, a customs officer, and a user tell the honest story about the role of drugs in their world. Slowly, you are confronted with the consequences of dreaming about quick money, the temptation of social media, failing poverty policies, and the feeling among many young people that they do not matter.

DOPE is based on research into drug trafficking. Researchers will present the results of this research in an artistic way in the foyer, starting one hour before the performance: think of a short film, game, or spoken word.

Pre-show in the foyer 19:00 - 20:00

For this performance, WAT WE DOEN has conducted research into drug-related crime and human smuggling in and through the Port of Rotterdam, in collaboration with the FORT-PORT (Focusing On the Right Things in the Port of Rotterdam) program of, among others, the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam.

Starting one hour before the theatre and dance performance, researchers from FORT-PORT will present the results of this research in an artistic way in the foyer: think of a short film, game, or spoken word. Please note: This pre-show is open to the public and free to attend.
