De Uitkijk

De Uitkijk cinema is the oldest art house film theatre in continuous use in the Netherlands. It was founded by a group of dedicated cinephiles in 1929 on the Prinsengracht, in the heart of Amsterdam. Since reopening in 2007, de Uitkijk is run bij students, becoming part of the Kriterion family.

Special features

As well as screening art house and independent films, de Uitkijk also hosts special screenings such as the Upload Cinema nights, the crowd pleasing We Want Cinema screenings and French classic films in the Les maitres du Cinema series. The Uitkijk can also be rented for private functions.

Cineville

De Uitkijk is one of the 13 cinemas in Amsterdam that have joined forces by forming the Cineville alliance.

If you become a member of Cineville, you can watch all films for free in the participating theatres. Cineville also helps program the popular Cafe Cineville nights which show classic and cult films every Friday.
