A history of migration and more

Shortly before the statue was dismantled, the Korean-German artist filmed a Korean choir of first-generation migrants singing the song Azalea in front of it, as an act of farewell, mourning, and resistance. Those recordings form the core of the installation. In the exhibition, the work is shown in dialogue with An ASMR Rice Cooker Orchestra, in which seven rice cookers belonging to Korean Dutch residents together form a quiet, domestic soundscape. Two works, one shared question: which sounds are heard, and which remain in the background.
