De Ysbreeker

The Ysbreeker is a classic! With the cozy terrace on the Amstel you are guaranteed a wonderful afternoon in the sun. The terrace is located on the water and on very hot days the surrounding trees provide a pleasant cooling. At the Ysbreeker you can watch people, drink wine and eat well.

A rich history

The Ysbreker has been around since 1702. Did you read that correctly? Yes, you read that right! That year is proudly displayed on the high windows at the front. The Café-Restaurant is named after the icebreaker that lay in front of it from 1702 to 1860; In winter it made its way through the ice from the Amstel to De Vecht and provided fresh water. At that time, De Ysbreeker was an inn and pub.

The versatile history of the Ysbreeker has inspired a stubborn approach. Because De Ysbreeker of today cannot be pigeonholed. It is simultaneously a coffee and tea house, lunchroom, pub, lounge area, games cafe and restaurant.
