A rich history

De Ysbreker has been around since 1702. Yes, you read that right. That year is proudly displayed on the high windows at the front. The Café-Restaurant is named after the icebreaker that lay in front of it from 1702 to 1860. In winter it made its way through the ice from the Amstel to De Vecht and provided fresh water. At that time, De Ysbreeker was an inn and pub.

The versatile history of the Ysbreeker has inspired a stubborn approach. De Ysbreeker of today cannot be pigeonholed. It is simultaneously a coffee and tea house, lunchroom, pub, lounge area, games cafe, and restaurant.
