The Desert Music van Steve Reich
Unfortunately, this concert at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ is sold out. This masterpiece is almost never performed live. But thanks to Het Muziek, Nederlands Kamerkoor, HIIIT, New European Ensemble and Ensemble Klang, a complete, joint performance of this monumental cantata for choir and orchestra will be heard tonight. The Desert Music by the birthday celebrant Steve Reich is an impressive work that unites poetry and urgency. The title and lyrics are taken from writer William Carlos Williams, whose words Reich brought together into one large, breathing soundscape.
