About Anne Kaasa
The Norwegian pianist Anne Kaasa, who has lived in Portugal since 1990, is very well known to the Portuguese public. She has performed with some of the most famous Portuguese musicians, including, among others, the violinists Aníbal Lima and Luís Pacheco Cunha, the cellist Maria José Falcão, the clarinetist and orchestra leader António Saiote and the flautist Antóno Carrilho.
Some of the greatest Portuguese composers owe the world premieres of their works to her, such as António Victorino d'Almeida, António Pinho Vargas, Amílcar Vasques-Dias, Clotilde Rosa, Sérgio Azevedo, and Pedro Faria Gomes. She also works as a teacher in Portugal.
About Nataša Šibalić
Nataša Šibalić was born in Belgrade (Serbia) and naturalized as a Portuguese citizen. She is described as “a soprano with great interpretive intelligence and refined phrasing” (Manuel Pedro Ferreira, in the Portuguese daily newspaper Público). She gives regular concerts and performs in mainland Portugal, Madeira and the Azores, the Netherlands, Serbia, France, Croatia, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. She focuses particularly on chamber music and contemporary opera.
She has performed absolute premieres of works by Gonçalo Gato, Vasco Mendonça, Alejandro Erlich Oliva, Diego Kovadloff, Amílcar Vasques Dias, and César Viena. She has collaborated with Amílcar Vasques Dias, including on two operas in which she played the lead role – “Soror Mariana Alcoforado” and “Geraldo e Samira”.
Natasa contributed to the CD “De ouvido e coração”, an original creation by the composer Amílcar Vasques-Dias, based on the work of José Afonso.
With pianist Anne Kaasa, she recorded the vocal album “In the silent of the secret night”.
