Over de Rivier en de Zee Um Al Gaith Collectief + World Opera Lab
Old stories and new sounds merge in the premiere of the compelling ritual performance *Over de rivier en de zee* by the Palestinian-Dutch Um Al Gaith Collective and World Opera Lab, together with the audience. At the center is Um Al Gaith: a rain ritual that is still performed in Palestine during times of drought. Newly composed percussion works accompany the 3,000-year-old stories of the goddess Anat, who braved the underworld to liberate the rain. By participating, the music and stories become not only audible but also tangible.
