Bach - Stravinsky - Wantenaar

In this special program, the Netherlands Bach Society combines old and new music. Under the direction of Johanna Soller, the ensemble performs with star soloist Lucie Horsch. On the program are music by Bach, Stravinsky, and Wantenaar. Orchestral works by Bach, including two Brandenburg Concertos, flow into Stravinsky's arrangements of excerpts from Bach's Wohltemperierte Klavier and Seufzer by Mathilde Wantenaar. For this, she drew inspiration from the aria 'Seufzer, Tränen, Kummer, Not' from Bach's cantata Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis.

New music for historical instruments

Mathilde Wantenaar is writing a new work for recorder and Baroque orchestra especially for Lucie Horsch and the Netherlands Bach Society. It will be fascinating to hear how Baroque instruments will influence newly composed music. In addition, Lucie Horsch will shine in Bach's Double Concerto, among others.
