Metropolis (1927) Wishful Singing, Yonga Sun, Steven Kamperman & Jorrit Westerhof
The hundred-year-old, iconic science fiction epic Metropolis presents us with a dystopian world in the year 2026 (!) as director Fritz Lang envisioned it. Underground, workers toil to keep colossal machines running, while above them the elite live in luxury. At the centre is a young woman who offers the workers hope and calls for harmony. Until her appearance is copied to a robot that is programmed with a very different purpose. Come and listen and watch at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
