Her Ensemble

Her Ensemble are an internationally acclaimed ensemble, born out of a desire for more diversity in the world of classical music. During lockdown, violinist Ellie Consta collaborated with her singer-songwriter flatmates, inspiring a whole new way of music making. Around the same time, she discovered that just 3.6% of classical music pieces performed were written by women. Realising she could only name a handful of female composers, and discovering a rich legacy of women writing music, Ellie sought to explore this music, whilst building a bridge between classical and contemporary music worlds. With a name that pays tribute to countless overlooked voices from music history, the ensemble strives for sincere - and innovative - programming, and a focus of authenticity and self expression in classical music.
