Stillness and the untamable power of nature
HUSH , with Finnish jazz trumpeter Verneri Pohjola as soloist, presents a personal and moving journey towards silence. The overwhelming premiere at the Saariaho Festival in March 2025 at the Muziekgebouw was awarded five stars in de Volkskrant and declared one of the musical highlights of 2025. Hrím – Icelandic for frost – by Anna Thorvaldsdottir creates a sound world in which sounds swirl down like ice crystals, clump together, fall apart, and finally slowly freeze in the wind. In Saariaho's Graal théâtre , an intense and compelling violin concerto unfolds, performed by Joseph Puglia, in which poetry and sharpness constantly touch.
This concert is broadcast live by the NTR on NPO Klassiek.
