About the musicians
Marcel Beekman is known for his interpretation of opera roles and his performances of both early and contemporary music. In 2025, Marcel Beekman appeared at the Musiktheater an der Wien (Unsuk Chin's Alice in Wonderland) and the Helsinki Christmas concert at Musikkitalo Helsinki, and in 2026 he will appear at the Opéra National de Paris/Bastille (Antonia Bembo's L’Ercole amante), followed by new productions in Vienna, Berlin, Prague, Paris, Dijon, and Aix-en-Provence. In 2025, he won the prestigious THALIA AWARD for his outstanding interpretation of Platée (Rameau) at the Prague State Opera.
Steven Faber is affiliated with ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle. As coordinator of the master's program, research supervisor, and piano coach, he brings together theory, practice, education, and organization through artistic activities. He studied piano at the conservatories of Zwolle and Utrecht, and privately with the renowned pianist Tan Crone. He also holds a Master of Education in Arts. In addition to his position at ArtEZ, he gives concerts with singers, focusing on the performance of art song from around 1750 to the present. He has toured Germany, France, England, and Indonesia, and has accompanied masterclasses in the Netherlands, France, and Italy by artists such as Elly Ameling, Barbara Hannigan, Alison Pearce, Roberta Alexander, and Michael Chance.
About the venue
This living room concert will take place in the private home of Koen and Joris, in the canal house at Rozengracht 55-H, a national monument dating from 1663. Throughout the year, Joris and Koen regulary organise (classical) house concerts in their home.
