In the back garden of the monumental Boomsspijker, we bring together the unusual combination of viola and alto saxophone: Alkistis Misouli and Michael Murray navigate a landscape where composition and tonal improvisation intersect. While their artistic voices have been profoundly informed by Western classical music, jazz, and other musical traditions, these influences surface as instinct rather than convention.

Organic Rhythms and Singable Melodies

Alkistis Misouli is a Greek-Cypriot violist whose performing spans classical music, Greek folk, jazz, improvisation and sound collage. Micheal Murray is an Irish saxophone player with a practice that encompasses live electronics and nature that is echoed in organic rhythms and singable melodies.
