An out-of-season masterpiece
Pergolesi's Stabat Mater is rarely heard outside of Passiontide. Yet this work is performed in the middle of summer, on the Feast of the Assumption. Pergolesi set Mary's suffering at the cross to music with an intensity that transcends time and season. The program is structured as a triptych: Arvo Pärt's silent Summa for string quartet opens, and My Heart's in the Highlands closes the concert.
High-level young musicians
Soprano Noëlle Drost and mezzo-soprano Fee Suzanne de Ruiter form a rare vocal combination. They are accompanied by the Martin Quartet and organist Jeroen Koopman. Both Fee Suzanne de Ruiter and the Martin Quartet are finalists in Dutch Classical Talent , the leading talent development program for young classical talent in the Netherlands.
Dominicus Church as a sound box
