A composition especially for the Westerpark
Pianist Shane van Neerden plays Bon dia , a new composition by Celia Swart for solo piano, voice, e-bows, fishing lines, foil, and blu tack. Swart wrote the piece especially for the Westerpark. The concept is based on the transition from the busy city to the tranquility of a park. In her own words: 'In the midst of the pond circles of the former gas holder, a bath of tears lies ready. A place of comfort and solace, where everything is allowed to flow and exist.'
Piano with preparations: music that shifts
During the performance, Van Neerden physically adjusts the piano with preparations and then removes them again. In this way, the music audibly shifts from stillness to movement. This makes the concert a unique listening experience, in which you literally hear the instrument change.
