Sasha Witteveen places the double bass at the center of attention during this concert at the Grachtenfestival in Felix Meritis, Amsterdam. The program demonstrates the instrument's versatility: from lyrical and singing to energetic and technically impressive. Witteveen has won prizes at international competitions in Lucca, Vienna, and the Netherlands and was a finalist in Dutch Classical Talent 2022/23.

The program features works by Giovanni Bottesini, including Elegy No. 2 and the virtuosic Gran Duo Concertante , and the rhythmically sharp Concerto No. 1 by Andrés Martín. David Anderson’s Seven Double Bass Duets brings two double basses into dialogue: short pieces full of humor, character, and rhythm.

Sasha Witteveen performs with pianist Jorian van Nee, violinist Noa Wildschut, and double bassist José David Ospina Gaviria. Witteveen has previously performed at the Royal Concertgebouw, TivoliVredenburg, and the Wiener Musikverein, and has soloed with the Residentie Orkest and LUDWIG.
