International mantra concert
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, an international mantra concert by British singer and composer Gaiea Sanskrit and her Cosmic Choir will be performed at the English Reformed Church on the Begijnhof. Singers from more than ten countries are coming to Amsterdam for a joint retreat and a public concert.
The 2026 repertoire is dedicated to Love, Light, and Unity – in Sanskrit: Prema, Jyotih, and Advaita . During the concert, the audience is invited to sing along in the accessible call-and-response format.
About Gaiea Sanskrit
At a young age, Gaiea learned Sanskrit, the ancient Indo-European language known in the West primarily through yoga and mantras. Later, she studied music and Sanskrit at the University of Oxford. In 2021, she founded the international Cosmic Choir. Every year, she develops a new program featuring traditional Sanskrit mantras and her own English-language compositions.
According to Gaiea, singing has a more direct effect than the spoken word: “When you say something, it doesn’t always sink in, but when you sing it, it goes straight to the heart.”
