An experience you don't want to miss: this live show
Instead of simply replaying the record, the live show has been conceived as a fluid and immersive experience – an ode to the music in which every performance continues to develop and takes on a life of its own. With a band consisting of members who can also be heard on the album, including musical director Dave Okumu, every performance is therefore unique and an experience that stands on its own.
Radiohead
As a guitarist for Radiohead, the Englishman Ed O’Brien (1968) grew into a world star who performs to sold-out stadiums and arenas all over the world. Because singer/guitarist Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood write the bulk of the songs in that band, O’Brien kept his self-written songs to himself. Until 2020. That was when he debuted under the name EOB, his initials, with the album Earth.
Inspired by the time he lived in Brazil with his family, he made his solo debut, assisted by a range of guest artists. Among others, Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood, but also Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley and Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche can be heard on the well-received album. O’Brien not only wrote the songs on the album, he also plays guitar and sings.
Blue Morpho
The seven songs are not released under the name EOB, but under his own name. Guest artists include Radiohead drummer Philip Selway, bassist Dave Okumu of The Invisible and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, and it was produced by renowned producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Rihanna).
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, O’Brien was forced to stop working and ended up in a depression. The solution came from spending hours alone making music without a goal. That became the basis of Blue Morpho.
