The Turkish rock band Duman combines the raw energy of grunge and alternative rock with influences from Turkish folk music. This unique combination was partly created by singer and guitarist Kaan Tangöze, who lived in Seattle for a time in the early nineties. There, he was inspired by the grunge scene, after which he took these influences back to Turkey and combined them with his own musical roots. Since their debut album 'Eski Köprünün Altında' in 1999, Duman has grown into an important name within the Turkish rock scene. With heavy guitars, catchy choruses, and the recognizable voice of Tangöze, the band has developed a sound all its own. Their songs deal with relatable subjects like love, relationships, heartbreak, and daily life, but sometimes also touch on social themes. With this, Duman shows that Turkish music can be much more than traditional sounds. Raw, energetic, and emotional, Duman brings together Turkish roots and grunge in a way that you recognize immediately.
