Defunkt
The legendary free-funk band Defunkt returns with a new lineup and performs at the Bimhuis. Defunkt emerged in 1978 in New York as a cross between punk, funk, and jazz, founded by trombonist and singer Joseph Bowie. The band was groundbreaking in blending mainstream music with bold, experimental styles. Defunkt has now been around for 47 years, with changing lineups and periods of silence, but always with 'Mr. Defunkt' Joe Bowie as the driving force.
