Prokofiev, Francaix, Nielsen and Rota
Music is indispensable in dance, theatre, and film. Moving bodies and compelling images, in turn, inject music with a healthy dose of energy. Thus, in the works of Prokofiev and Françaix, the ballet music they were working on seeped into delightfully spirited chamber music pieces. With the Danish composer Nielsen, a musical performance becomes theatre, and in the Nonet for five winds and four strings by Nino Rota, we hear echoes of his film music for Coppola ( The Godfather !) and Fellini.
Close-up
In the Close-up chamber music series, musicians from the Concertgebouw Orchestra perform self-composed programs in the Small Hall. Each one is a unique, one-off concert that cannot be heard anywhere else. The perfect way to experience the individual qualities of the orchestra musicians! The intimate concerts are organized by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
