Bruno de Sá en Pedro Beriso: van Villa-Lobos tot Rachmaninoff en Ravel

Bruno de Sá works magic with his rare soprano voice, a sound that, according to Opera Magazine, is 'stunning'. Together with pianist Pedro Beriso, he presents a recital in which songs by Villa-Lobos, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel, among others, serve as a showcase of what the art of song has to offer: serene restraint alongside exuberant virtuosity.

Bruno de Sá and Pedro Beriso

The Brazilian singer Bruno de Sá has an exceptional voice: he is a male soprano, a sopranist. He sings in the natural soprano register and uses no falsetto, but a fully developed soprano voice. 'Stunning', according to Opera Magazine . His voice has a light, flexible Baroque sound with which he has already captivated many an opera lover. Tonight, he subtly weaves music from his native soil through other gems for his special sound.

From Villa-Lobos to Rachmaninoff and Ravel

Prima le parole e poi la musica – or the other way around? What comes first, the music or the text? In this recital, that question is partly avoided by the choice of a number of vocalises, songs without text, in which the unique timbre of the soprano comes fully into its own. But even when the words do matter, the music sounds beautiful. Works by Villa-Lobos, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Granados, and others form a showcase of what the art of song has to offer: serene restraint alongside exuberant virtuosity.
