Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata

When Beethoven composed his Ninth Violin Sonata, nicknamed the 'Kreutzer Sonata', he was also working on his Third Symphony . In both works, Beethoven revealed his revolutionary side. With its immense expressive power and emotional intensity, the piece marks a starting point for musical Romanticism. Beethoven placed extremely high demands on both violinist and pianist: the violinist to whom Beethoven initially dedicated the piece even found it impossibly difficult to play. The LGT Young Soloists, with Alexander Gilman as primus inter pares, perform the sonata in a version for strings only. The iconic Kreutzer Sonata in a new guise, then, but quintessentially Beethoven, full of dynamic contrasts, rhythmic surprises, and unparalleled melodies.

LGT Young soloists

The LGT Young Soloists is a group of young musicians from 20 countries. The string players are between 14 and 23 years old, but with their artistic director Alexander Gilman, they demonstrate that they are much more than a youth orchestra. They perform worldwide at the most beautiful festivals and in renowned venues. Their sound is mature, their musicality unparalleled, and their passion for music radiates from the stage.
