Through carefully selected tracks, sound fragments, and stories, Nathan Kofi and Derk Louwes make audible musical connections that you might not have noticed before: between styles and pioneers, from the roots of a genre to its influences on other music and cultures. Alongside the music and the story, you experience what it feels like to listen without distraction. This is becoming less and less commonplace, even though listening to music consciously can help you relax and be in the here and now, something many of us could use.

Nathan Kofi

Nathan is a music professional, cultural analyst (MSc), concept developer, and educator with a great passion for subcultural music and identity. Additionally, Nathan is a DJ, producer, and devotee of nightlife, with 14 years of experience in the music industry. He is the founder of De Lichting and the former artistic director of De School in Amsterdam.

Derk Louwes

Derk worked for years as a programmer and curator in the electronic music world, including for Red Bull, WaTT Rotterdam, and Thuishaven. He is a part-time lecturer and also researches how music can influence well-being, recovery, and performance. He develops music interventions for elite athletes and is one of the creators of Sonic Journey.
