Home of classical music in Amsterdam
Completed in 1888, this impressive building overlooking Museumplein, has been the centre of classical music in the Netherlands for well over a century. It houses three beautiful performance spaces: the grand Main Hall for orchestral performances, the Small Hall for quartets and chamber music, and the more intimate Choir Hall for recitals. With annual attendance hitting more than 800,000, the Royal Concertgebouw has the world’s second-highest attendance record of its kind.
World-class programming
The Royal Concertgebouw is behind the majority of its programming, with a leading role being reserved for series such as the SummerConcerts, powered by BankGiro Loterij and the Sunday Morning Concerts. If you’re interested in learning more about the fascinating building, join one of the several tours organised every week (in Dutch and English, €10).
