Take in nature at Oostvaardersplassen

From 12:00 to 14:00

Veer off the cycling route at the mural of Hugo Kaagman and take a 15-minute detour to the Oostvaardersplassen Almere. In this beautiful nature reserve, the marshes are home to waterfowl, horses, red deer and foxes. Take one of the cycling routes through the bike or walk around to enjoy this pocket of man-made nature.

Tuck into a delicious lunch overlooking the water

From 14:00 to 15:00

Step into the small pavilion of Strand22, right on the Almere city beach by the Weerwater. Try a Dutch beef-filled kroket or a sandwich and soak in the sun with water views of Almere's most popular lake. If you want to extend the beach vibes, consider visiting Stedenwijk beach, Atlantis beach and others, where you can rent canoes and boats.

Admire Almere’s stunning modern buildings

From 15:00 to 16:00

Almere is famous for its outstanding modern architecture, which has extraordinary designs from leading architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Herman Hertzberger, and Liesbeth van der Pol. Walk around and spot The Wave, a massive structure that mimics the motion of the water; the Rainbow District, where the homes bring a colourful brightness to the city; and dozens of private homes in unique designs.
