The National Maritime Museum is one of the Netherlands’ most impressive event locations, housed in a monumental 17th-century building overlooking the Amsterdam waterfront. The museum features a wide range of versatile indoor and outdoor spaces, including the spectacular Open Courtyard with its glass dome, several historic chambers and modern meeting rooms.

Our venues are suitable for conferences, meetings, walking dinners, receptions, product launches and cultural events, hosting groups from 10 to 1,000 guests. The Open Courtyard can be used year-round, offering a breathtaking setting by day and a magical atmosphere in the evening.

All rooms can be equipped with high-quality AV facilities and are supported by our experienced event team, ensuring a seamless experience from the first enquiry to the departure of your guests.

In addition to events, groups can enjoy exclusive guided tours through our exhibitions, covering themes such as navigation, trade, migration and the Dutch maritime world.

Sustainability

Sustainability plays a central role in our operations. The National Maritime Museum has its own in-house kitchen where all dishes are freshly prepared with a strong focus on Dutch Cuisine. This philosophy emphasises seasonal and regional ingredients, balanced menus and inspiration from Dutch food culture. Our chef works closely with local suppliers to create modern, flavourful dishes with a low environmental impact.

Our beverage selection reflects the same approach: locally brewed beers from Brouwerij Homeland, organic juices from nearby farms, Fairtrade coffee from Peeze and traditional liqueurs from Wynand Fockink. By choosing our catering, guests support local producers and reduce unnecessary transport.

The museum is committed to becoming eco-positive by 2030, aiming to minimise environmental impact and inspire sustainable behaviour among visitors, partners and staff. To contribute further, we plant a tree for every event, supporting reforestation and CO₂ compensation.

Accessibility

The National Maritime Museum is fully committed to providing an accessible experience for all visitors. The main building is equipped with elevators, accessible restrooms and wide pathways suitable for guests with wheelchairs or mobility needs.
