Flexible events space
The venue is made up of several characteristic spaces which can be rented separately or combined, and can be made to fit a wide range of possibilities and options for meetings, conventions, seminars, presentations, parties or dinners. The kitchen serves up honest, homemade dishes and the chef is always open to suggestions and able to create a bespoke banqueting service tailored to any sort of event or meeting.
De Balie has previously hosted customised events for Amsterdam Dance Event, Blender, Sonic Acts, IDFA, Brainwash festival, Philips Healthcare, Apple and the European Parliament.
Contemporary culture and inspiring debate
Founded in 1982, De Balie is a centre for contemporary culture and inspiring public debate, located in a historic nineteenth-century building that once housed the District Court. Through talk shows, cinema, art, debates and theatre, De Balie brings together diverse perspectives in a creative and independent way. Besides rooms rental, it offers a dynamic programme that encourages reflection, discussion and new ideas.
Accessibility
De Balie is fully accessible to all visitors. The building has an elevator, and every room can be reached with a wheelchair or other mobility aids. Our staff are available to assist when needed. De Balie is located next to Leidseplein and is easily reached by public transport, with several tram and bus lines stopping directly in front of the building. If you arrive by car, you can use nearby parking garages such as Q-Park Europarking or Byzantium. Another convenient option is to park at the RAI and take the tram to the city centre. We aim to make every visit as comfortable and accessible as possible.
