Techlab: The Ultimate Playground

An interactive dance experience in which you help shape space, music and movement

In The Ultimate Playground, you are not a spectator, but an active participant. As you enter Studio Boekman, you step into an interactive environment where dance, light, projections and music come together. Together with other participants and three professional dancers, you discover how movement can transform a space, and how your gesture, step or choice can influence what happens.

No dance experience is required, and you decide for yourself how actively you take part. You can move, walk around, watch, listen, move an LED block, or help shape the space in your own way. Using a sensor wristband and tracking technology, your movements become part of the music. Even a small gesture can affect the sound, tempo or rhythm.

What can you expect?

You move through a space filled with projections, illuminated blocks and platforms. Three dancers guide the experience through movement and choreography. Across five levels, the space takes on a different atmosphere and set of ‘rules’ each time. Sometimes the music responds to your movements through the sensor wristband; at other times, you change the space yourself by moving objects around.

You do not need to know or prepare anything in advance. Above all, come and try, discover and play.
