Ben and Vero

What if a body, disciplined by years of ballet training, moves with a body coping with the symptoms of cerebral palsy: impaired movement with exaggerated reflexes, weakness or spasms of the limbs and torso, atypical posture, uncontrolled movements? This duet will not emphasize difference. It is not conceived as a clash of opposing identities. This dance is an experiential and experimental choreography for two bodies moving together. The performance aims to expand the aesthetic norms of how we perceive dance and question the current lack of inclusion within the dance world. It aims to see, explore, and experiment with alternatives to hierarchical structures based on ability, gender, and age. How fluid can our identities become in dance?
