Anthony van Gog - Crouwdkill / Yoko Haveman - Conundrum

Moving Futures is the festival where you can experience dance from the latest generation of makers in all its manifestations in Theater Bellevue. Every evening the festival offers innovative dance in a varied program. Enter the world of 'Crowdkill', the latest performance by Anthony van Gog, in which an intense bass sound predominates. Surrounded by four mega subwoofers, a figure pushes the limits of his body. 'Conundrum' is an interdisciplinary solo performance that explores the manifestations of friction, confrontation and the obstacles of thought. Through object manipulation, physical theater and cinematographic images, Haveman experiments with identity as idealism.

Yoko Haveman - Conundrum

'Conundrum' is an interdisciplinary solo performance that explores the manifestations of friction, confrontation and the obstacles of thought. While performing this physical work herself, Haveman challenges the sensory and emotional aspects of the viewer. Through object manipulation, physical theater and cinematographic images, Haveman experiments with identity as idealism.

Her work is inspired by questioning human behavior and philosophies, from the vulnerable to the invincible, especially under the umbrella of the (un)conscious self. In Conundrum we see an entangled creature with a three-meter-long metal chain as a metaphor for conditioned idealism. What ideas are imposed by upbringing, culture, and environment, and how does she distinguish these from her natural thoughts? By combining physical theater and text, she shows how identity can take shape in abstraction and at the same time seek a sincere connection with the audience.

Anthony van Gog - Crouwdkill

Enter the world of Crowdkill , Anthony van Gog's latest performance, in which an intense bass sound predominates. Surrounded by four mega subwoofers, a figure pushes the limits of his body. The intense bass, together with a soundscape of instrumental melodies, ambient sounds and live body sounds, builds a space in which nothing is certain anymore. What happens when the performer's body, but also yours as a spectator, no longer has any points of recognition and can no longer hold on to anything?

In the coming years, PLAN maker Anthony van Gog (Antwerp, 1996) will be working under the wings of DansBrabant and Veem House of Performance on his research into the 'selfless body' - the idea that we humans do not have a fixed core, but that identity is formed by our ability to reflect on what is happening outside of us. Self-development is no longer a steadily building development, but a “falling in all directions, without any support, a constantly mutating body”.
