Dance the night away

In Brazil there is more than samba and bossa nova. Feel the adrenaline rush of baile funk and dance up a sweat at the club night of the Holland Festival and the industrial city oasis Lofi.

Because baile funk, the young music genre that grows between the hills and the asphalt of the favelas, is the Brazilian counterpart of Western rave. But the slums also offer space for experimental music in which the roots of Brazilian music are intertwined with modern music movements.

About Producer/musician Mbé (Luan Correia)

Producer/musician Mbé (Luan Correia) performs live his acclaimed project Rocinha , named after Rio's largest favela, where he grew up and recorded some of the samples for this project on the street.

He incorporated rhythms from candomblé, a religion in Brazil that emerged after the African diaspora, and African beats in ambient music. With his samples he draws attention to the discriminated black population. As a DJ, Mbé also plays a set with the best baile funk from Rio at the moment.

Vintage 80s Miami Bass beats are paired with Brazilian rhythms, raps and crazy samples in which sirens or gun shots - a reference to the violence in the favelas - are heard.

Loud, raw and exciting. DJ K, the funk wizard who became a national star after making his mark in Heliópolis, São Paulo's largest favela, shows off his bruxaria ("witchcraft funk"), and madelão, his version of favela party music. The complete line-up will be announced soon.
