Sapodilla is the regular program of DARKMATTER Collective, where electronic music takes center stage as an artistic and cultural statement. Local and international artists present a listening session that reimagines club culture as a space for experimentation and community. The name refers to the sapodilla, a fruit from tropical America with deep roots in indigenous knowledge and history.
Movement, migration and transformation
The fruit traveled through the Caribbean and further into the world — a symbol of cultural movement and change. From that perspective, Sapodilla connects electronic sound with themes such as colonialism, slavery, migration, and creolization. DARKMATTER places marginalized voices and diasporic perspectives at the center of the program.
