ZID Theater Amsterdam is excited to present the tenth edition of the international and multidisciplinary ExploreZ Festival from May 28 to June 7! A celebration of creativity, connection, and intercultural collaboration. Enjoy performances, workshops, and artist talks at both outdoor locations and in theaters throughout the city. With the theme Necessity as Compass, art is deployed as a tool to investigate urgent questions of our time. Makers and the public explore themes such as inequality, the climate crisis, polarization, and exclusion together, and how societal and personal urgency can grow into a driving force for creativity, connection, and change.
Many locations throughout the city
There are programs at beautiful locations such as Plein Theater, Podium Mozaïek, and the ZID Theater, as well as in unconventional places like parks and squares, including the outdoor spaces of Tolhuistuin and the Van Eesteren Museum, as well as Erasmus Park. In this way, we create stages for all Amsterdammers, and everyone is welcome to join in the enjoyment!
Festival for established and new talent
The festival offers space to established and emerging makers from the Netherlands, as well as international professionals. Stories you didn't know yet, art forms that surprise you – often from perspectives that are rarely heard. ExploreZ deliberately provides a platform for makers who are personally involved and feel the need to ask important questions. These makers come from diverse countries and bring their own culture and worldview to the stage.
