Lee Ufan in the Rijksmuseum Gardens
Art of encounter. This is how the Korean artist Lee Ufan describes his work. The minimalist sculptures provide a moment of peace in the Rijksmuseum Gardens on Museumplein. The gardens are freely accessible.

Reflection
In a setting that you can experience for yourself, the works invite reflection and pause in a rapidly changing world. Reflection and stasis are ongoing themes in Lee Ufan's work. This summer, the gardens of the Rijksmuseum will be the stage for his first solo exhibition in the Netherlands.
Dialogue
Nine iconic sculptures made of stone and metal enter into a dialogue with nature and the architecture of the museum. Seven works in the gardens and two sculptures in the building itself. Lee Ufan is re-performing some of his key works especially for the Rijksmuseum. The mix of recent and previous images in this unique context can be experienced for free in the gardens from 28 May to 27 October, 2024.
About Lee Ufan
Lee Ufan (1936) is a founder of the Japanese avant-garde movement Mono-ha (School of Things), which uses raw materials and elements, such as stone, iron and water, to investigate the relationship between objects and space.
