Art behind the windows of houses in the Staatsliedenbuurt
As part of Keti Koti Westerpark, work by Gilleam Trapenberg can be seen from June 2. Manifestation #37: Keti Koti Westerpark
The works on display are from the New Suns series. Trapenberg shot the New Suns in Curaçao and developed them in the Netherlands. With the series, Trapenberg asks questions about the sun as a symbol of exoticism, commercialism and tourism. With New Suns he makes it clear that the island flourishes thanks to the sun, but that the economic prosperity this produces does not always benefit the islanders. With the series he examines the prevailing ideas about the Caribbean.
