Collecting the City #4: Museum om de Hoek
Collecting the City
Collecting the City is an exhibition series in which the Amsterdam Museum, together with various communities and organizations, 'collects' and shows the vibrant city of Amsterdam. The fourth edition presents the small exhibition Museum om de Hoek.
Stories from the neighbourhood
Museum om de Hoek is a collaboration between 23 neighbourhood museums all over Amsterdam. They introduce you to special neighbourhoods and characteristic stories. The neighbourhood museums know better than anyone how to collect and tell those stories. Stories about the local history of specific neighbourhoods, cultural heritage and coexistence in and around Amsterdam, the past, the here and now, and the future. With interactive exhibitions, tours and meetings, these stories come to life in their own way at the neighbourhood museums.
Masterpieces from three neighborhood museums
The museums have been invited to present their stories and collections in the Amsterdam Museum for the Collecting the City project. In the third edition of Museum om de Hoek, we see neighbourhood stories told by the three neighbourhood museums: Bellamy BuurtMuseum, Atelier Volten and the Pianola Museum. They introduce you to residents from Oud-West, the self-playing piano and artist André Volten.
