Acoustic music with an electronic character
Tzara the Machine is the solo project of Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter and producer Francisco Garrido. Inspired by Björk, Animal Collective and Bon Iver, he blends sampled acoustic instruments with electronic elements. His lyrics explore themes such as shame, guilt and self-doubt. Together with Carolina Gemmell, he translates this layered sound into 2 acoustic guitars, moving between art pop, folk, free improvisation, r&b and world music.
From raw guitar to meditative sounds
The duo shifts between full, raw guitar parts and quiet, meditative passages. Their music draws you into an intimate and absorbing sound world. Tzara the Machine and Carolina Gemmell show how acoustic instruments can create a sound that feels electronic in origin.
