On March 21st at the Roode Bioscoop: a double bill featuring country legend JP Harris and folk singer Sophie Janna. The two met at a whiskybar in Amsterdam and discovered a shared love of traditional folk songs. This pure style of music inspires the work of both artists and their voices blend together beautifully.

Underground country

American country singer, songwriter, and storyteller JP Harris tours Europe with guitarist Noel McKay in the spring of 2026, making one stop in Amsterdam. Besides songs from his four original albums, Harris shares covers and personal stories drawn from thirty years of wandering the globe, since leaving home at the age of fourteen. Harris is known as an outsider within (underground) country and pushes the boundaries of the genre with each album.

Folk ballads

Sophie Janna played with her duo The Lasses for years before she began sharing her own songs in public. Sensitive and strong, she sings about being a soft person in a world made of concrete. Old folk ballads have deeply inspired her personal work. Sophie Janna's songs have won awards at Mooie Noten (finalist 2019) and Indie And A Show (Best Songwriter 2023).
