TODESFUGE Hans Dagelet + Nieuw Amsterdams Peil
Paul Celan was one of the most important poets of the last century who attempted to process, exorcise, and commemorate the Holocaust in his work. The poem *Todesfuge*, set to music by many composers, is one of the highlights of his oeuvre. Celan did not want to be called a 'Holocaust poet'—one can also read his work as something dark through which light shines, as something heavy that turns out to be liftable.
