Collegium Musicum Amsterdam, in collaboration with Hiske Eriks, presents theatre and music about Elisabeth van Culemborg.

In monologues, Elisabeth reveals her certainties and doubts. Her immediate circle responds. Theatre maker Kees van der Zwaard was inspired by ‘Het Verdriet van Elisabeth van Culemborg’ (author Wijnand W. Mijnhardt).

Elisabeth was the first lady-in-waiting to Margaret of Austria, the proud owner of the beautifully designed ‘Mechels Koorboek’ from 1515. Various works, mass movements and chansons by Pierre de la Rue, Margaret’s favourite composer, will be performed.

This theatrical concert paints a vivid picture of heartbreak and family politics at the Burgundian Court of Mechelen.
