The Ragged Music Festival reaches a poignant climax with a star-studded performance of Olivier Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps. Messiaen composed his moving plea for peace in a German prisoner-of-war camp where he was imprisoned in June 1940. The music of Alfred Schnittke and Morton Feldman, master of silence, also relates to death and the inexorable passage of time in human life. This concert takes place at the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.
